Die junge und hübsche Penny Abbot (Stephanie Greco) arbeitet im Whayley House in San Diego als Tour-Guide. Das Haus gilt als das schlimmste Geisterhaus in Amerika, jedoch glaubt die junge Frau nicht an Geister und nimmt ihren Job dadurch nicht wirklich ernst. Ihre Freunde aus der Stadt sind jedoch fasziniert von ihrer Arbeit und will sich die vermeintlichen Geister einmal genauer ansehen. Die Gruppe beschließt, eine Mutprobe zu wagen und in Amerikas "most haunted" Haus einzubrechen, um dort eine Nacht zu verbringen. Das Unterfangen entpuppt sich als komplettes Horrorszenario, denn in dem Haus regt sich nachts tatsächlich etwas Unheimliches. Und dieses Etwas scheint den Besuchern eine Nachricht vermitteln zu wollen - und zwar, dass der Glaube an Geister nicht verkehrt ist und eine gewisse Portion Angst jedem Menschen gut tut. Können die Freunde dem Grusel entkommen oder müssen sie für ihre Naivität und Respektlosigkeit den ultimativen Preis bezahlen?
